Traffic cops launch anti-encroachment drive, oust hawkers in Sitabuldi

Nagpur: Traffic cops on Monday undertook a major drive to remove encroachments at Jhansi Rani Square and Variety Square. The main target of the Traffic Chamber-2 were the hawkers who had invaded footpaths and other areas with their goods. After removing the hawkers, cops barricaded the footpaths and other roadside areas with ropes in order to curb the encroachers.

The drive was launched under the directives of Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham. DCP (Traffic) Ravindra Pardeshi was personally present and supervised the crackdown. The drive was led by Senior PI Jayesh Bhandarkar of Traffic Chamber-2. Other personnel include PI Ashok Meshram, API Lingnurkar, PSIs Kurewad, Sarode and staff. Total 32 hawkers were ousted and their goods seized by the cops.
