Three awarded death for killing four in Akola

AKOLA: District and Sessions Judge V D Kedar on Friday announced death sentence for three accused in the murder of four persons of a family in Bakhrabad. The court on 14 November had found the accused guilty of the heinous crime.

It may be mentioned that the incident happened on 14 April 2014 at Bakhrabad under Ural police station. Over a dispute on two acres of land, Gajanan Vasudev Mali and his two sons Nandesh Gajanan Mali and Deepak Gajanan Mali had attacked four persons of a family with sharp weapons and killed them on the spot. The deceased were identified as Vishwanath Mali, Vanmala Mali, Yogesh Mali and Rajesh Mali.

The Akola police had arrested the three accused under relevant sections and filed chargesheet in the case. The case was heard in the court of District and Sessions Judge V D Kedar, who found the accused guilty under Section 302 and 201 of the IPC. The Judge noted that the accused cut the victims like branches of a tree and hence they needed to be punished severely. He sentenced them to life.

Two acres of land destroyed families

Bhagwantrao Mali, the father of Yogesh and Rajesh, had entered a deal with Gajanan Mali for purchase of two acres of land. But Gajanan later refused to complete the deal. Bhagwantrao then approached the court, which announced judgement in his favour. This enraged the accused and they killed the four people.
