Nagpur: The third round of admissions under the Right To Education (RTE) has started from 14 June after the third draw was held on 13 June after a long wait of two months. District Coordinator of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan and RTE, Premchand Raut informed that around 1,800 students would be admitted in different schools in this third round that will be conducted till 25 June.

The first draw under the RTE was held in March this year. The second draw was held a couple of weeks later and 5,212 students were given admissions through those two draws. The third draw was expected to come sometime in April. However, due to negligent attitude of the education department, the students and their parents had to wait for two months for the third draw, which was held last week at the time when some of the schools have already begun and the remaining schools are about to start in a week.

This year, a record number of around 24,000 parents had applied for admissions of their kids under the RTE. And this is the reason that many parents and their wards got disappointed for not getting the admission. Many parents suffered other problems also due to technical goof-ups by the department like allotting the schools, which doesn’t even exist. Some of the allotted schools were already sealed for different reasons while a few schools embarrassed the parents by reportedly asking for donations.
