Thief robs house and sets the house on fire: Goods worth Rs 3, 84,000 reduced to ashes

Nagpur: In what could be termed as sheer audacity, a thief robbed a house and set the house on fire in Jagrut Nagar in Jaripatka area on May 23, 2016.

According to sources, goods worth Rs three lakhs eighty four thousand (Rs 3, 84,000) was reduced to ashes in the fire.

The victim is identified as Ranapratap Dhahat aged 42 years and a resident of a rented house belonging to Ramteke situated in Ambedkar Colony, Kamptee Road. Sources said that two years ago, the house owner had allegedly closed or shut the water connection to the rented house. From then, the victim Ranapratap Dahat started living with his father identified as Ramprasad Dahat. However, all his belongings were still in the rented house belonging to Ramteke.

Few days ago, some thieves had broken the lock on his main door and had stolen his gas cylinder and cooking range from his rented house. After that the unidentified thieves had set the house on fire causing all the goods kept in house to turn into ashes.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim Ranapratap Dahat, the Jaripatka Police has registered a case of theft and has initiated an investigation into the matter.
