Theft in running train; valuables worth Rs 25 lakhs stolen

Nagpur: A theft of cash and valuables worth Rs 25.25 lakhs occurred in the running train recently. The GRP Nagpur registered a case of theft against unidentified thieves and handed over the case to Sitabuldi police station for further investigation.

According to police, Rajendra Saravagi, aged 52, resident of Ramdaspeth in the city, had gone to Secunderabad with his family on June 14. On his return journey he was travelling by train to Nagpur. Having got down at Nagpur railway station he with his family and luggage left for home.

When reached home and opened the suitcase, he discovered that all ornaments of gold and diamond as well as Rs 25,000 cash were missing. Rajendra rushed to the GRP and reported the matter, but the GRP forwarded the case to Sitabuldi police station. PSI Gawai is further investigating the case registered under section 379 IPC.
