Nagpur: Even as thefts at marriage ceremonies continue, unknown persons stole Anjulata Praname’s (49) bag containing two expensive diamond rings worth Rs1.50 lakh, gold valuables, a mobile phone and Rs 40,000 cash, total worth Rs 2.52lakh from Jagat Celebration Hall at Jaripatka on Sunday.

Praname told police that the theft might be committed an unknown 10-year-old girl. Cops collected CCTV footages from the only camera installed at the entrance of hall.

Anjulata, mother of an army captain, had come here to attend wedding of a close relative. She told cops she had kept her bag on a chair opposite the stage. The incident happened between 8pm and 8:30 when she was busy in the ceremony.
“We checked the footages but didn’t find any the suspect though Anjulata said that the girl was wearing a white frock. We have the asked the hosts to share the marriage video clips. The stolen mobile device will help us to crack the case soon,” informed senior PI Uttam Mulak.

Mulak added that the miscreant probably guided the girl to steal the bag because nobody would doubt her. Anyone, from relatives to guests, could be the culprit.

An offence of theft has been registered against an unknown person following the complaint of the victim’s spouse Shreehariprasad (57).
