Nagpur: An 18-year-old youth was allegedly murdered and his friend seriously injured in a knife attack following an old rivalry in Nagpur’s Jaripatka area during the early hours of Thursday. Police have registered a murder case against three accused, who are currently absconding.
The incident occurred around 1.30 am near NIT Garden Lane in Kushinagar, under the jurisdiction of Jaripatka Police Station.

According to police, Rajvir Sohan Kumar Sharma (18), a resident of Plot No. 59, Kushinagar, was allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by Raj Ilamkar (22), Rohit Ilamkar (20), both residents near NIT Garden, Kushinagar, and Honey Dogre (25), a resident of Kushinagar. The assault was allegedly the result of an old dispute between the parties.
Police said Rajvir’s friend, Nayan Sonbarse, intervened in an attempt to rescue him but was also allegedly attacked with the intention to kill, leaving him seriously injured.
Both victims were rushed to VIMS Hospital, where doctors declared Rajvir dead on arrival. Nayan is currently undergoing treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother, Shalu Sohan Kumar Sharma (40), Jaripatka Police have registered a case against the three accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder and attempt to murder.
A search has been launched to trace and arrest the accused, while further investigation is underway.
