Taking responsibility for the worst ever defeat of Congress in the region, Maharashtra’s State Employment Guarantee Minister Nitin Raut has put in his papers after his party saw major crash countrywide including Vidarbha.  Disappointed by the debacle, Raut has submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.

Talking to Nagpur Today Raut said, “I have sent my resignation to chief minister. Inspite of RSS having it’s headquarter in Nagpur, I never let BJP to win from here. I am taking the moral responsibility of the defeat of Congress candidate from Nagpur by a huge margin and have sent my resignation to CM.”

It may be mentioned here that the ruling Congress MP from Nagpur and party’s Lok Sabha candidate Vilas Muttemwar had to face washout defeat at the hands of Nitin Gadkari who was close to registering record win as per latest counting trends.

When Nagpur Today contacted Muttemwar he said that he was unaware of the development on this front; however he too had heard about Raut tendering resignation.

Reacting over the results Muttemwar said that the poll results are unprecedented and they had never expected such an outcome. He however welcomed the people’s mandate and also extended his congratulations to BJP’s Nitin Gadkari for making the winning mark. “I congratulate Gadkari for his victory. We wish him successful tenure and hope he would live up to his promise of development of Nagpur. We convey our best regards to him,” Muttemwar told Nagpur Today.

Muttemwar also praised the exit polls saying that they were up to the mark.
