Sweetmeat shop owner, son, others booked for assaulting customer in Dharampeth

Nagpur: The owner of famous sweetmeat shop Subhash Mishthan Bhandar, his son, nephew, three servants and 7-8 accomplices have been booked on the charges of assaulting and beating a customer over a petty matter. The brawl erupted on Sunday afternoon. No arrests have been made so far in this connection.

The victim customer Sandeep Shankarlal Gupta (27), resident of Plot No. 48, Bhagwan Nagar, had gone to Subhash Mishthan Bhandar, situated at Laxmi Bhavan Square, Dharampeth, around 1.15 pm on Sunday, for having “Samosa.” After buying the snack, Sandeep demanded a plate. At this point the trouble started. The owner of the sweetmeat shop Ram Khilawan Gupta (57) first refused to give plate to Sandeep and then humiliatingly asked him to get out of the shop. The accused even threatened Sandeep. Taken aback by the unusual behavior of the shop owner, Sandeep sought the reason for his humiliation. Enraged by Sandeep’s poser, the accused Ram Khilawan Gupta, his son, nephew, three servants and 7-8 accomplices assaulted him with fists and kicks, iron rods, and other material. The sudden assault left Sandeep with bloody injuries.

Sitabuldi PSI Bhaskar, acting on a complaint of Sandeep, registered offences against the owner of Subhash Mishthan Bhandar, Ram Khilawan Gupta, his son, nephew, three servants and 7-8 accomplices under Sections 143, 148, 149, 341, 324, 323, 506 of IPC and investigating the matter further.
