SVK Shikshan Sanstha proudly announced the launch of HIMMAT, a first-of-its-kind self-defence training initiative designed exclusively for specially-abled individuals, including the blind, deaf-mute, physically challenged and intellectually challenged.
Under this initiative, students from Chitnavis Trust, Deaf & Dumb Residential School Saoner, Kalyan Mukh Badhir Mulanchi Shala, SVK Shikshan Sanstha and the specially-abled football team of Slum Soccer have already completed their training under the Himmat program.
The primary objective of HIMMAT is to empower specially-abled individuals with practical self-defence techniques, enhanced situational awareness, and emotional strength—enabling them to feel confident, safe and independent in real-life situations. The training is led by expert martial arts trainer Coach Emmanuel Philip, Founder, MOD The Fight & Fitness Dojo, along with his team.
Speaking at the launch, Ms. Gayathri Vatsalya, President, SVK Shikshan Sanstha and the visionary behind this movement, said:
“HIMMAT is not just a program—it is a promise. A promise that every specially-abled person deserves safety, dignity, and the confidence to stand strong. We believe empowerment begins where fear ends. Through HIMMAT, we aim to gift courage to every participant.”
She also announced that the training will be provided completely free of cost to all specially-abled participants.
Chief Guest Smt. Abha Dwivedi, President of Jhankar Mahila Mandal, appreciated the initiative, stating:
“This initiative is truly pathbreaking. Empowering specially-abled individuals with self-defence is not just important—it is transformative. HIMMAT represents compassion in action, and I applaud SVK Shikshan Sanstha for taking this much-needed step toward inclusion.”
Lead trainer Coach Emmanuel Philip expressed his perspective, saying:
“Training specially-abled individuals is not about limitations—it’s about unlocking possibilities. Every participant has incredible potential. Through HIMMAT, we will build confidence, strength and discipline, while ensuring self-defence remains accessible and enjoyable.”
The event concluded with an inspiring live demonstration by specially-abled participants Praveen, Pankaj, Ankita and Isha, showcasing their newly learned self-defence skills under the guidance of Coach Emmanuel Philip. A warm and interactive session followed, marking the beginning of a meaningful and empowering journey.
SVK Shikshan Sanstha extends heartfelt gratitude to participating institutions, supporters, volunteers and well-wishers whose efforts made the launch of HIMMAT a memorable milestone.
