Earlier in the day, the NCP’s legislature party meeting is scheduled for 2 pm in the city, where Sunetra Pawar will formally be elected as its leader. Following this, she will take oath as the state’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister.

Sunetra Pawar held consultations with senior party leaders after arriving in Mumbai from Baramati early Saturday morning.

The development comes in the wake of the death of NCP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who was also serving as Finance Minister in the Mahayuti government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Ajit Pawar reportedly lost his life in a plane crash in Baramati on January 28, along with four others.

Party leaders said Sunetra Pawar’s elevation is aimed at ensuring continuity and stability in the state government during this critical period.
