Nagpur.
Taking strict stance on the increasing failure on the part of colleges to fill and submit online scholarship forms for the benefit of economically weaker students, the social welfare department on Saturday took the principals of erring colleges to task. In an emergent meeting called on Saturday, the department has passed the diktat to all the principals to either complete the form procedures by February 28 and inform the department, or be ready to face the cut in their salaries.

The Principals from around 200 senior and junior colleges in Nagpur district were called in the meeting presided by Social Welfare Commissioner Wakulkar. The last date for online submission of scholarship forms is February 28, post which no application would be entertained and the salaries of principals will be deducted in the event of any loss caused to the deserving students.

Wakulkar informed that there are as many as 90,000 students in the district whose scholarship forms have not yet reached the department. Experts believe that filling up online forms for such a whopping number of students in just 2 months may lead to website crash.
It is also learnt that most of the colleges who have not submitted the forms are aided institutes.
