Nagpur: As many street-lights remain off on several major streets, spreading darkness all over and causing inconvenience to all, start all off street-lights within 8 days, said Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressing his dissatisfaction over functioning of civic body, NMC, during a meeting with local body officials here on Monday.
While passing through Sitabuldi road, the Minister personally noticed that only one light was on and 10 lights were off. When he asked the Asstt NMC Commissioners about zone-wise position of street lights, he was shocked to observe that the NMC officials were unaware of lights in their zones. He realized that the NMC officials never inspected their zones in terms of lighting on various streets. He directed the NMC officials to set right all off street-lights and make them lighted within 8 days.
When MLA Kohle tabled the problem of no-light on Ring Road, the NMC officials replied that the lighting work would be completed as soon as the funds were received.
Minister instructed the NMC officials that there should sufficient lighting on streets during Ganesh Visarjan processions.
