Nagpur: A State Transport bus, being driven speedily and recklessly, knocked down a woman dead on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred near Nagpur Improvement Trust office in Sadar. The driver of the ST bus has been arrested.
The victim, Subhadrabai Shivaji Patil (60), native of Tapni, Katol in Nagpur District, was going towards NIT office walking around 4 pm on Sunday. An ST bus (MH-40/N 8626), coming from Sadar direction, hit Subhadrabai and fatally injured her. She died on the spot before any medical help could be provided to her. After the accident, the passersby stopped the bus and heckled the unidentified bus driver. Sadar police too reached the spot and sent body of Subhadrabai to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem after preliminary investigation.
PSI Warpade registered an offence under Sections 279, 304(A)of IPC read with 134(A)(B) of Motor Vehicles Act and arrested the driver of the ST bus.
