Sportspersons create ruckus in NIT, Collector’s office

Nagpur: District, State and National level sportspersons gathered at Reshimbagh ground today and from here under the leadership of Corporator Bunty Shelke reached Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT). Seeing hords of people the policemen here tried to stop them but Bunty Shelke told policemen that these were not of any political party but sports persons. Not following prey to police pressure they gained entry into NIT raising slogans like should the corrupt officials be suspended? Not a single hand from the employees standing in the gallery was raised. Which proved all were corrupt.

The contractors getting with a green signal from officials had put tar and other material on Reshimbag ground. The sports persons met Buntry Shelke and informed him about the whole episode. Soon the material was removed but the behaviour of the officials was not proper. Even today it was the same story.

It is sad that the Chief Minister and Union Minister cannot make available the ground for sportsperson for their practise. As a protest the sports persons went to NIT. Here the sport persons practise their sports. Bunty Shelke apprised the Superintending Engineer about the entire episode. He demanded that the ground should not be given for any other function other than sports and demanded that the contract of the contractor involved in this be cancelled and the officials responsible for this be suspended.

The sports persons delegation which met superintending Engineer was assured that here after the ground will not be given for any cultural programme. Bunty Shelke said that the official had given assurance but he did not trust him and so he and Prashant Pawar have threatened to spoil the programme of doctors association.

As the condition of the Reshimbagh ground is not good many spots persons have hurt themselves as well as Lalit Chopda got less marks in police recruitment. On the ground the boulders, metal, nails are lying.


From here the delegation of sports persons consisting of Prashant Pawar, Mangesh Khursade, Nikita Raut, Shweta kukade, Lalit Chopda, Nikhil Lonar went to District Collector’s Office and met the collector and apprised him about the condition of the ground and problems. He assured to look into the matter and assured to make alternate arrangement for sportspersons. The sports persons demanded that arrangements be made at Ishwar Deshmukh College ground for practise or else they would disturb the programme of doctors association.

Present for the protest were Ayesh Khan, Zoya Khan, Ankit Bhalavi, Prajakta Godbole Ashwin Bhoyar, Priyanka Umredkar, Alok Kodapurwar, Pujak Madane and others.
