Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Saturday said sports helped create good citizens and in turn a great country.
Addressing a gathering at the “Khasdar Krida Mahostav” here, Gadkari further said the event, which had become widely popular, should continue irrespective of whether he stays MP or not.
“If we want to a build a country of our dreams, then we need to build good citizens. Sports help in building a good personality and a strong, patriotic generation,” he said.
“This Khasdar Krida Mahotsav will continue like this for many more years to come. I am not a permanent MP. People elect MPs and if they elect me, well and good. But whoever comes after me, this Khasdar Mahotsav should continue for many more years to come,” he said.
Gadkari said local MLAs, the state government and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation would provide all support for the festival so that it can develop sports and build sports personalities here.
