Nagpur: A 23-year old boy was killed and a girl riding pillion was injured seriously when the Activa moped they were riding in was hit by a recklessly driven truck on Pardi Overbridge in Kalamna here on Sunday.
The deceased, Rahul Anandrao Manapure (23), native of Belghat, Wadapaoni, Bhandara along with Varsha Sanjay Netke (22), resident of Raghuji Nagar, was going towards Pardi Naka Square on his Activa moped (MH-36/T 4314) around 5 pm on Sunday. As the duo reached on Pardi Overbridge, a rashly driven truck (MH-40/AT 1800) hit their Activa awith forceful impact. As a result, both Rahul and Varsha were hurled in the air and fell on the road with a thud. Both were injured grievously. Rahul breathed his last on the spot while Varsha was taken to a nearby hospital. After the accident, the truck driver fled the spot leaving behind his vehicle fearing angry reaction from people.
Kalamna Assistant PSI Tiwari has booked the unidentified driver under Sections 279, 304(A), 337 of the IPC read with Section 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
