Speeding Bolero knocks police constable dead at Law College Square

Nagpur: A Police Constable, attached to Tehsil Police Station, was knocked dead by a speeding Bolero vehicle near Law College Square on early Monday morning. The driver of the killer vehicle has been arrested.

The deceased, Rajkumar Divakar Phule (49), resident of Trust Layout, Pandharabodi, was proceeding towards Ahimsa Square from Coffee House Square on his motorcycle (MH-31/BS 6978) around 7 am on Monday. When Rajkumar reached near Law College Square midway, the Bolero car (MH-49/D 0486), driven recklessly by Ramu Chunnilal Punde (27) of Pardi, Kalamna, coming from Ravinagar direction rammed into his motorcycle with forceful impact. As a result, Rajkumar suffered grievous injuries and was immediately taken to Sengupta Hospital by nearby people. However, he succumbed to the injuries around 1.30 pm while undergoing treatment.

Based on a complaint lodged by Rounak Rajkumar Phule (20), Sitabuldi Lady PSI M H Waghade booked the Bolero driver Ramu Punde under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of IPC and placed him under arrest.
