Nagpur: In a renewed vigorous 3-day special drive, Traffic police booked total 1099 unruly auto drivers and other vehicle owners on various counts. The 1099 offenders include 251 erring auto drivers and 848 other vehicle owners. The charges against auto drivers include transporting passengers above capacity, not wearing designated uniform, driving autos without permit/licence, non-functional fare meters, et al.
During the 3-day drive undertaken on August 29, 30 and 31 as per the directives of DCP (Traffic) Ravindrasingh Pardeshi, the cops also detained 229 autos and other vehicles for violating the the traffic rules. 100 auto drivers and other vehicle owners were booked on the charges of drunk driving and fine of Rs 2 lakh was imposed on them. In all 1110 e-challans were issued and penalty of Rs 5.55 lakh was imposed. Similarly, an amount of Rs 2.44 lakh was recovered on the spot towards penalty.
The team of Traffic police that undertook the special drive include Police Inspector Ashok Bagul, API Nile, PSIs Akhre, Savarkar, Pawar, Rathod, Kedare and other personnel.
