Software Engineer arrested for torturing wife for dowry

Sensational news of harassment for dowry has come to light in Ajani police station area. The victim was tortured by her in-laws and her husabnd to such an extent that she was determined to commit suicide, had it not been for the help of a social worker and commissioner of police. The victim, Manisha, 27, was married to Ravi Shriwas in 2012. Soon after marriage, Ravi and his family started harassing Manisha for dowry. Even when Manisha brought Rs one lakh seventy thousand from her parents home, Manisha’s in-laws were not pleased and continued to harass her. Manisha tried to lodge complaint with police on many occasions but every time police sent her away saying that it was a family matter.

It was torture to such an extreme degree when on one occasion Ravi kicked her on her stomach, when she was 8 months pregnant, with an intention to kill her unborn child. Ravi was not willing to tolerate and adjust with Manisha as he is having an alleged affair with his own paternal aunt. It is said Manisha was an eyewitness to this incestuous relations but had to keep quiet to save her marriage.

Had the good Samaritan social worker not helped her, Manisha would have committed suicide. The social worker and Manisha were introduced to each other when Manisha had come to meet commissioner, lost her consciousness, and fell to ground with her child. Police commissioner K K Pathak, called the woman in and when he heard her plight, took the Ajani police station in-charge Kojamkar to task, and ordered him to register an offence.

It may be mentioned here that Manisha’s husband, Ravi is a software engineer. In spite his high earning he and his family were greedy enough to torture her for dowry. Manisha told that it was with the help of Railway police that she could reach police commissioner, K.K. Pathak and register her complaint.

An offence has been registered against Ravi and his family. Ravi is under arrest and further investigations are in progress.
