Social activist Vinod Jethani alleges being implicated in false case

Nagpur: City’s renowned social activist Vinod Jethani has alleged that has been falsely implicated in a theft case in order to cover up a property sale goof up by a local trader in Khamla area.

Talking to Nagpur Today Jethani said the Local Khamla Shiv Sena leader is throwing his might to support Vijay Amrutlal Hemnani who has cheated him by taking money against a property already sold to some other person.

Jethani, who also deals in real estate sales and purchase has alleged that Hemnani had mortgaged his property with him against the loans of Rs 14 lakhs. The amount was lent in different stages, he informed.

However when Jethani checked the status of the property, it turned out that a part of the property was already sold to another person identified as Suresh Kumar Lalwani.

Jethani added that Hemnani had connived with his three brothers to double cross him and deliberately avoided the sale. It is learnt that Hemnani is a known bookie and has as many as 8-9 cases registered against him at Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station.

Upon learning the property status Jethani immediately called the four brothers namely Rajesh Amar Hemnani, Mahesh Amar Hemnani, Suresh Hemnani and Vijay Hemnani and cancelled the mortgage. He then got a fresh agreement made on a stamp paper that the property is mortgaged and fresh post-dated cheques were issued by the four brothers.

However, on March 13, 2016, when the first cheque was due to be encashed, Vinod Jethani went to Hemnani’s shop to inform him that he was putting the cheque in the bank. However, Jethani alleged that there emerged local Sena leader to play spoilsport and provoked Hemnani brothers to pick up a fight with Jethani. Taking a flip, Hemnanis then flatly denied taking any money from Jethani. At the peak of the argument, the brothers went on to allegedly say that we will not pay any money, do what you want to do.

Jethani also alleged that with Hemnani then went to Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station and lodged a false complaint against him that he and his son Ashu Jethani had stolen Rs 25,000/- from the shop’s cash box and fled from the spot.
Interestingly Jethani alleged that the police did not even check the veracity of the complaint before registering case against him. No primary investigation was done, he alleged.

Meanwhile Jethani issued a press release to clarify his stand. In the release Jethani claimed that basis on the false complaint cops raided his house without search warrant.

Media reports false allegations coerced by the leader

A news channel went on to show the news of this respected social worker looting Rs 25,000/- from the cash box from the shop of Vijay Hemnani. To add to the mistake of reporting without verifying facts, they also showed the video footage of another criminal who was arrested for shooting a man in hotel Skylark and showed it as it was Vinod Jethani. This when Vinod Jethani was never arrested or even his statements recorded till date.

Vinod Jethani displayed all the documents of Income Tax returns, all the donations that he makes to Anandvan Ashram, Mother Teresa Ashram, making Sindhi Hall etc.

The leader is alleged to have used another case of a young boy who got electrocuted in a pan (betel leaf) shop rented out by Vinod Jethani to black mail him and fleece him of lakhs of rupees.

The entire episode was aimed at maligning the name and reputation of Vinod Jethani and some sections of media working under the coercion of the leader, had been printing false news of Vinod Jethani and his alleged involvement in so many crimes he never committed. His only mistake is that of his close acquaintance with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
