SNDL vows complete safety of staff & consumers, too

SNAPNagpur: The on-going Electricity Safety Week, being observed from January 11 to 17, 2016, an initiative of Maharashtra Government, has seen active participation by power distribution cos and other partners alike. Main objective of celebrating this as a special week is to spread awareness about the consequences of negligence of electrical safety and adherence to safety rules while handling electrical appliances in order to reduce accidents.

Giving high importance to safety of its own employees who are constantly exposed to dangers of electricity, SNDL (Spanco Nagpur Discom Limited) too is participating voluntarily in all the activities being organized in this week. SNDL initiated the process by providing caps to all the participants with the Government’s message of electrical safety. Besides, all the tower ladders of SNDL have also been decked up with various signboards carrying safety messages as continuous reminder for team members to ensure adherence to safety modules while working for the power distribution company.

SNDL_PR_Electrical Safety week events (1)Further, on January 12, more than 50 employees of SNDL’s O&M team participated in safety lecture delivered by Meenakshi Wathore (Electrical Inspector, Nagpur) where they were provided detailed presentation on various safety tips to be practiced at workplace. In an interactive session held at town hall, Wathore highlighted the importance of safety while citing the examples from few recent accidents. She also explained the importance of using the good quality and as per standards safety kits which are approved and tested by every quality checks. SNDL_PR_Electrical Safety week events (2)While concluding her lecture, she appealed all the staff present there of not to be over-confident and negligent while working as the safety of every consumer also depends on the safety of the every person working hard to maintain the electrical network.

Earlier, on January 11, a grand rally was organized at Kasturchand Park, Nagpur.

SNDL weekThe rally was flagged off by Mayor Pravin Datke. The formal briefing of the safety week and route of the rally was briefed by Meenakshi Wathore, Electical Inspector, Nagpur. Mayor Datke was welcomed by Dinesh Khonde, Superintending Engineer, Electrical Inspection Circle, Nagpur. A large LED screen and Chitrarath was a part of rally playing electrical safety film. Various organizations like VECA, NMC, SNDL, MSEDCL, private industries participated in the rally.
