Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a fresh offence under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Dr Sameer Paltewar, associated with Meditrina Hospital, Ramdaspeth. The case was registered on Tuesday, February 3, even as Dr Paltewar is currently out on bail after spending 67 days in jail in an earlier case.
The complaint has been filed by Poonam Ankushrao Dukre (32), a resident of Ramdaspeth, Nagpur, and a native of Takli Chana village in Deoli taluka of Wardha district.
According to the FIR, Dukre has been working since December 2024 as an assistant physician to Dr Mahesh Sarda at Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences and Meditrina Hospital, Ramdaspeth. The hospital is owned by Dr Sameer Paltewar, though an administrator is presently in charge due to an ongoing dispute between Dr Paltewar and Ganesh Chakkarwar.
In her statement, Dukre alleged that after Dr Paltewar came to know about her caste, his behaviour towards her changed. She claimed that he repeatedly summoned her to his chamber without reason, scolded her, and made remarks linked to her salary, allegedly saying, “Don’t you want your salary? You know who pays your salary.”
The complainant further stated that on January 31, 2026, she reported to duty at around 10 am and completed her routine work. At about 6 pm, when she was returning after a tea break and entering the hospital premises, she encountered Dr Paltewar standing near the iron gate of the hospital.
She alleged that Dr Paltewar abused her in obscene and caste-based language, questioned her right to work at the hospital, and objected to her assisting Dr Mahesh Sarda. The incident allegedly took place in the presence of hospital staff and security personnel.
The complainant further stated that Dr Paltewar instructed the security guard not to allow her to enter the hospital premises in the future and threatened to remove both her and Dr Sarda from the hospital. She alleged that he also threatened to ensure that she would not be able to continue her job anywhere.
Fearing for her safety, Dukre dialled the 112 emergency number, following which police personnel reached the spot. She later approached Sitabuldi Police Station and submitted a written complaint. Her formal statement was recorded on Tuesday.
Based on her complaint, Sitabuldi Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and other applicable provisions. Further investigation is underway.
