Silver crowns of deities stolen from Jatashankar Devalaya in Telangkhedi

Nagpur: An unidentified miscreant struck at a temple in Telangkhedi area and stole silver crowns of five deities between 10 pm of Wednesday and 5 am of Thursday. Gittikhadan cops have registered a case and mounted a search to nab the offender.

The theft took place at Jatashankar Devalaya, situated near Gondwana Club on Telangkhedi Road. The crime came to light when the priest of the temple, Brahmakumar Ramdeo Mishra (34), resident of Vikas Nagar Dhobi Ghat, near WCL Office, came to the temple for opening it around 5 am on Thursday (May 26).

To the bewilderment of Mishra, the iron rods of the main gate were found bent and broken. Upon further scrutiny, the priest noticed the silver crowns of deities including Lord Shankar, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesh, Lord Kartikeya and Saibaba stolen. The value of stolen silver booty has been estimated at Rs 10,500.

The shocked priest immediately informed Gittikhadan police about the theft. A team of cops rushed to the temple and started investigation.

PSI Kedare has booked the accused burglar under Sections 457, 380 of IPC and launched a search to apprehend the offender.
