SILICE delegates from European Union and Israel visits PIET

Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur was visited by the delegates of Social Innovation amongst Local Indian and Israeli Communities and Graduate Entrepreneurs (SILICE) from European Union and Israel on October 5 and 6. The delegates Dr. Carlos Machado from Gottingen Germany, Dr. Zeevik Greenberg and Mrs. Gili Navon from Tel Hai Academic College, Israel, Mrs. Nirit Lawrence from Oranim Academic College of Education, Mr. Pratik Gandhi and Mr. Damien Hannet of Edulab Mumbai visited and appreciated the well established SinnoLAB at PIET having state of the art facilities.

The primary objective of SILICE project is to mentor and promote social innovative ideas and to exchange them at international level in European Union (EU), Israel and India. The SILICE team of Israel was highly impressed by the various social projects undertaken by PIET. The SILICE team of PIET attended training programmes at Edinburgh, Lisbon,Croatia, Germany, Israel and Bhubaneshwar.

The social projects of the institute Bhu-Jayate (A cloth bag making project) taken care by Apurva Neti and Akshita Chandak, Harit Mosquito repellent project of Isheeta Rohanker, Shruti Baghele, Mohammad Huzaifa Akbani, Priya Jadhav, Amritpani biofertilizer project by Rahul Satpute and Multipurpose Agricultural Machine by Akhil Mandalik received huge appreciation from the visitors.

Dr. Vivek Nanoti, Principal of the institute and Project Manager of SILICE briefed the delegates about the various activities, projects and workshops undertaken by the institute. He mentioned in his presentation that PIET has become a most sought after centre for the future social entrepreneurs and start ups not only for their students but also for the students of other institutes. Dr. G.M. Asutkar, Vice principal of PIET and SILICE teacher gave details about the huge response PIET’s Sinnolab is getting not only from Nagpur but also from nearby regions. Dr. Sadanand Deshpande and Dr. Rakesh Himte, Sinnolab Managers explained how the modern equipment like Interactive Board, 3 D Printer of Sinnolab could help the students to put their idea on paper.

Dr. Sumita Rao, a SILICE member of PIET in her presentation talked about the overwhelming response of Idea Contest which was organised by the institute in February, 2018. She mentioned that the institute had received almost 150 ideas of which top five ideas had been chosen and the SILICE team of PIET is mentoring them. Dr. Nanoti assured the delegates that the ideas of these students would become a reality in near future under the mentorship of SILICE team. Dr. Rozian Rana, another SILICE teacher briefed the delegates about the workshops on Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship which the institute has been organising on regular basis. These workshops not only inculcate entrepreneurial spirit amongst the interested students but also train them about various aspects of social entrepreneurship. Dr. Bhumika Agrawal and Mr. Himanshu Taiwade escorted the SILICE delegates to various stalls exhibiting social projects started at PIET. SILICE team also visited th newly started herbal and botanical garden where tree plantation was done at the hands of all the delegates.

The waste management project set up by the department of Biotechnology was well appreciated by the visitors. The knowledge Centre and Business Incubation Centre, the unique centres of PIET were also visited and praised by the team. The team interacted with the beneficiaries of Sinnolab and expressed their satisfaction over the contribution of Priyadarshini Institute of Engineering and Technology for the dissemination of the project.

They assured that the institute has the potential of creating social entrepreneurs and is worthy of getting such more projects from European Union in future. Dr. Satish Chaturvedi, Chairman of LTJSS, Smt. Abha Chaturvedi, Secretary of LIJSS, Dushyant Chaturvedi, Director Governing Body and Director of the sanstha Mr. Abhijeet Deshmukh congratulated team PIET for their tie up with the projects of European Union and also for giving international platform to the budding entrepreneurs. All the delegates were facilitated at the hands of Dr. Satish Chaturvedi and Smt. Abha Chaturvedi.

Dr. Aditi Pandey, Mrs. Mayuri Chandak, Dr. Manju Soni, Dr. Aeishwarya Kopulwar, Dr. S.R. Mote, Dr. Archana Potnurwar, Dr. Sanjay Jain, Mr. Abhijeet Warhade, Mr. Ketan Bodhe, Mr. Parag Naik worked hard for the successful visit of foreign delegates.
