Nagpur: The sorry state of affairs being run in Zilla Parishad schools could be described in two words. “Beyond imagination.” A shocking fact came to the fore. 49 schools of Zilla Parishad in rural area are literally “headless.” These schools are devoid of headmasters since the past four years. The future of students hangs in balance as the number of teachers is more than sanctioned, but lack of proper management ruins any chances of quality education.

When confronted over the issue, the Education Department said that the appointment headmasters will be done in the month of May. Some schools have excess teachers while others have too few. Every school should have a permanent headmaster to ensure quality of education.

Teachers do not listen to another teacher given additional charge. Response to Zilla Parishad schools is best when they are maintained properly. Zilla Parishad schools can be on par with private schools if the management is proper. There is no paucity of funds,” the Department said.
