Nagpur:
Intensifying its protest against State diktat on removal of photos of gods and religious figures from offices and schools, all the Shiv Sena ministers met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and demanded withdrawal of the GR immediately. The Shiv Sena ministers, who met Fadnavis at his official residence “Varsha” in Mumbai, also sought suspension of the official who issued the “controversial” notification.

It is pertinent to recall that the Section Officer of State Government R V Warkade on January 21, 2017, directed all the District Collectors to remove photos of gods, religious figures as well as posters having information about religious messages, festivals, rituals from offices and state-run educational institutions. The notification was in accordance with the demand of Maharashtra State Castribe Employees’ Union, Pune.

However, the move did not go down well with Shiv Sena as the party has demanded immediate withdrawal of the notification and suspension of the official.
