NHAI fails to get encroachment removed despite compensation paid
Nagpur: The service road of National Highway (NH)- 69 has been encroached between Mankapur and Dahegaon Rangari by shopkeepers and parked vehicles. As a result, various types of illegal act are on the rise in the encroached land.
The encroachment is also there on Mahadula-Koradi and Zingabai Takli areas through which the national highway passes. The traffic operators have to pass through encroachment with great risk to their lives, and in case of any incident the police is held responsible.
The encroachment on service road passing through Mahadula bazar area has become prone to accidents and the crowd of people over there is giving rise to crimes committed by unsocial elements.Over such concerning situation, the chief officers and office-bearers of Mahadula Gram Panchayat, Koradi Gram Panchayat and Bokhara Gram Panchayat are not serious to deal with the situation. The encroachment has given birth to the incidents of eve-teasing in the local markets as well.
It may be recalled here that the NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) has already deposited the compensation with Nagpur collectorate for the land acquisition. Many of them have obtained the compensation while some are still left as they have not obtained their compensation due. The local residents have filed their applications/ complaints with police for removal of encroachment, but no action is being taken due to political pressures. But, this neglect is causing much inconvenience and insecurity to the citizens.
