Nagpur: Transport Minister and Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Raote in a recently held party workers meeting in Nagpur, very shrewdly showing down the Bharatiya Janata Party announced that in future there is no hope for alliance between the two parties. Due to this in the coming election Shiv Sena will contest all seats independently in Vidarbha as well as the entire State. BJP was not shaken by this announcement but in fact was happy that it will now contest the election on all the seats.
The saddest part of this meeting was that the Sena member of Nagpur district were not at all enthusiastic after the announcement of Raote. This has happened because the Sena has never tried a bit strengthen the party in Vidarbha nor has supported its activists. The party workers here have been fighting their own cases registered against them during the agitations. The party has not been helping them in any way. The local workers are taking care of the party on their own.
Nagpur party workers who have some hold in the Sena head office are able become the office bearers here and get the party ticket. A common Sena workers does not stand a chance. The Shiv Sena does not bother of Vidarbha. The district chiefs are all from Mumbai and so once in a while they come in contact with the district. After enjoying the VVIP treatment they leave. Those giving VVIP treatment benefit from this.
It may be recalled that when Sanjay Nirupam was the Contact Chief of Nagpur district and he used to spend at least 10 to 15 days in Nagpur. He would visit even the remotest area and so Sena could see the positive result too, like there was one MP, MLA, Corporator, Zilla Parishad member, Panchayat Samiti member and hold over Municipal Council. After Sanjay Nirupam Nagpur city and district did not get such efficient Contact Chief for this district. There are three MPs now in Vidarbha but that’s because of BJP’s help. If the Shiv Sena contest the the coming elections all alone the number is sure to decrease. The reason behind this is Sena prepares the plan keeping view only Mumbai, Western Maharashtra, Khandesh, Marathwada. Vidarbha is least important for them and so is neglected. Sena remembers it only when the Congress and BJP talk of isolated Vidarbha. Sena is still struggling for identity in Vidarbha.
The invitation for Raote’s meeting were sent to former and in active office bearers. By holding the meeting in Nagpur Sena was trying scare BJP so that it will give them importance as before. Due to Raote’s statement the BJP workers have become very active and are hoping to get a chance to contest the election which they could not because of Raote. If the election is fought separately by BJP and Sena then it is sure Ramtek seat will be lost and Sena will stand no where.
