Nagpur: A self-styled astrologer has been booked on the charges of raping a girl on the pretext of reading her horoscope and predicting her future.
The accused “astrologer” Amrish Sharma (35), resident of Friends Colony, called the 19-year old girl to poonam Chamber between 12 noon and 5.30 pm on January 8 on the pretext of predicting her future by reading horoscope. When the girl came, the accused Amrish Sharma took the girl to his car and offered water spiked with sedatives. As soon as the girl drank the water, she fell unconscious. The accused took the unconscious girl to a resort on Amravati Road and raped her forcibly.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victimized girl, Sadar Varpade has registered a case against the accused Amrish Sharma under Sections 376, 328 of the IPC and probing the matter further.
