Mumbai/Nagpur: Selfie is the most abused act of the recent times and sometimes it turn life threatening too. Specially when you are indulged in your selfie act at some dangerous locations. The latest location which came on police radar is Mumbai’s famous Marine Drive and Chowpatty beach. Yes selfies are now forbidden there.

The Mumbai Police has identified 15 dangerous selfie spots across the city after a man drowned trying to save a girl who fell into the sea while taking a photo of herself and her friends.

Among the sites shortlisted as risky: the beachfronts at Dadar and Juhu, the Bandra Bandstand and forts at Worli and Bandra.

“We will write to the civic body to put up signboards at tourists spots along the coast warning tourists and others that they should not take selfies as it is dangerous,” Dhananjay Kulkarni, the spokesperson of the Mumbai Police explained.

However, violators – those who simply can’t resist selfies – will not be fined. “We will make people aware (of the guidelines) through our Twitter account and our website,” he added.

A teenager and her two friends fell off rocks into the Arabian Sea near Bandra Bandstand in the north of the city while clicking selfies on Saturday.

Police officers patrolling the selected areas have been briefed to warn people against taking selfies, police officers said.
