SCZCC to host cultural programme at Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Ujjain

While adding another feather to its cap, South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur Will be hosting a series of month-long Cultural Programmes during the Simhastha Kumb Mela organized by Ministry of Culture (Government of India) at Ujjain between April 22, 2016 to May 21, 2016.

This was reported by Director of SCZCC Piyush Kumar while addressing the media personnel.

The pilgrims and the residents of Ujjain will get a chance to interact and see for themselves more than 3000 artists and artisans who will be participating in the Cultural Programmes during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Ujjain.

Rashtriya Lalit Kala Akademy, Sangeet Natak Akademy, Rashtriya Natya Vidhyalaya, Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) and Sahitya Akademy, New Delhi, will be participating with the help of Madhya Pradesh Government.

The Cultural programme during Simhastha Kumbh Mela will start with Pundit Jasraj’s musical rendition. Ujjain will reverberate with Vedic renditions and Spiritual music. This will be the first time that more than 300 traditional and contemporary artisans and artists will be making and presenting their art forms during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

The produced art pieces and articles will be displayed at the venue and a coffee table book will be published. More than 150 Rangoli artists will be displaying designs in myriad colours at the venue.

Many different award-winning and reputed artists will be presenting their traditional art forms to the visitors and the devotees. Many Classical, Semi-classical, Light Music, Folk Music, folk Dance, Kavi Sammelan, Drama, Rangoli, Traditional and Contemporary Art-work workshops, and Book exhibition will be held during the programme. Many foreign visitors and tourists are also slated to visit the venue. Many foreign tourists are said to like this Kumbh Mela and look forward to visiting Ujjain to see the Kumbh Mela. A wide display of the unity in diversity and the dignity of cultural inheritance will be seen at the venue.

South Central Zone Cultural Centre will be organizing the entire programme while all the other Zonal Cultural Centres will be helping in co-ordinating the programme.

During the programmes that will be organized daily at the venue, many reputed and award-winning artists are said to present their art forms. This will include:

The Ministry of Culture has allotted the entire responsibility of organizing the cultural events at the Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Ujjain to South Central Zone Cultural Centre.
