New Delhi/Nagpur: Scarlett Keeling murder verdict: Two Indian men charged with raping and causing the death of British scarlett-keeling-murderschoolgirl Scarlett Keeling on a Goa beach in 2008 have been acquitted of all charges.

Fifteen-year-old Scarlett Keeling was found bruised and half-dressed in the waters of popular Anjuna beach in February 2008. Police initially declared her death an accidental drowning, but her mother, Fiona MacKeown, pushed for a second autopsy, which proved she had been drugged and raped. The autopsy also showed that Keeling had suffered more than 50 injuries to her body.

Fiona Mackeown says she is devastated and shocked by the verdict.

Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho, the two accused had been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, using force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty and of administering drugs with intent to harm. All the charges against them have been dropped.
