Mumbai/Nagpur: Satish Mathur has been appointed as the new DGP of Maharashtra police, ANI reported.
Mathur, a 1981-batch IPS officer, had taken charge as the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau chief in April this year. Prior to this, Mathur was heading the Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation.
Known as perhaps the first National Security Guard-trained IPS officer, Mathur has held several crucial postings in the past, including his tenure with the CBI, when he was one of the officers who prosecuted the 1993 blast accused.
