Mumbai: Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that Shiv Sena does not stab anyone in the back as the party works on its commitments.

“Maharashtra government has committed to be in power for five years. Shiv Sena works on its commitments. If anyone’s feeling joyous over CM’s (future friend) remarks, let it be for three years. Shiv Sena does not stab anyone in the back,” ANI quoted Raut as saying.

His clarification came after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s ‘future friend’ remark for Union Minister and senior BJP leader Raosaheb Danve stirred political speculations. “We need to understand what the Chief Minister said,” he said while attempting to clarify the remark passed by Thackeray, who is also the chief of the party.

“Those who were on stage and the Bharatiya Janata Party people who say that they should not be called ex-ministers can go to any one of the three parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi,” Raut added.

CM Uddhav Thackeray had on Friday addressed the leaders including Union minister Raosaheb Danve at a function as former and possible “future colleagues”, leading to speculation as to whether a political realignment was in the offing in the state.

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena parted ways with the BJP after the 2019 Assembly polls and formed a government with the NCP and Congress.

Earlier on Friday, Raut wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 71st birthday saying he took the BJP to new heights and there is no leader who can match him.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very popular among people in India. He has taken BJP to new heights after Atal Bihari Vajpayee. PM Modi’s regime has brought political stability in the country,” Raut said while speaking to the media persons here.
