: In a cracking action, Nagpur Rural Police rescued a 9-year old girl from the clutches of a kidnapper within 4-5 hours of the incident. The abductor has also been put behind bars.

According to details, the complainant Pratibha Satish Meshram (29), along with her two daughters — Khushi (9) and Kashish (7), stays in Rohna, 12 kms away from Jalalkheda in Nagpur District. Pratibha works as labourer. On Tuesday (April 12, 2016) between 10 am and 3 pm, Pratibha went to Bharsingi village for some bank work. At that time, both the daughters of Pratibha were at home. However, when Pratibha returned home around 3 pm, she could not find Khushi at home. Pratibha frantically searched her and enquired about her with neighbours also. Her second daughter Kashish and some neighbours told Pratibha that a person named Sidharth Dhone was staying at the house Ramu Dhone as a guest since the past 5-6 days and he had come to her house and had asked Khushi to accompany him for plucking of mangoes. Acting on the information, Pratibha and villagers searched Khushi at nearby farms but neither Sidharth nor Khushi could be found. Finally, Pratibha lodged a complaint with Jalalkheda Police Station in this connection.

Jalalkheda cops, soon after receiving Pratibha’s complaint, swung into action. Two squads were formed – one led by API Dinesh Labde with ASI Ganpat Jadhav, contables Sanjay Ingole, Mangesh Nasre as its members and the second one led by PSI Vijay Korde with constables Dilip Ingle, Kunal Argude, Srinivas Wagh and Police Mitra Rupesh Chaudhary as its members. Both the squads immediately mounted a massive manhunt and scanned Paradsinga, Katol, Bharsingi and other areas as well as farms, jungles. But the police squads drew a blank.

Meanwhile, Police Constable Dilip Ingle received a tip-off from an informant that a suspicious person along with a kid girl was travelling in a Katol-Nagpur bus (9592). The suspicious person was under the influence of liquor. Armed with the information, the squad led by API Dinesh Labde, immediately left on the trail of the bus. First the cops alerted the Kalmeshwar police and asked them to initiate ‘Nakabandi.’ However, by that time the bus had crossed the limits of Kalmeshwar and was headed towards Nagpur. Subsequently, Gittikhadan police of city were informed accordingly. A team of Gittikhadan police waited for the bus to arrive at Old Katol Check Post (Naka). As soon as the bus arrived, cops barged into it and took custody of the accused Sidharth and the 9-year old Khushi.

The accused Sidharth Dhone (22) is resident of Joginagar, Nagpur, and being jobless wanders from one place to other at relatives’ house. After staying at one place for 3-4 days, the accused hops to other place the fact could have posed challenge to the cops in tracing him. Moreover, no relatives had the photo of accused Sidharth nor his mobile phone number. Overcoming all these hurdles, the cops rescued the girl within hours of the kidnapping.
