Rs 7 lakh theft case of Lakadganj solved, mother-son duo arrested

Lakadganj police cracked the sensational Rs 7 lakh theft case and arrested a woman and her juvenile son who were reportedly planning another heist. However, two accused men succeeded in escaping the police net and now are subject of a massive manhunt.

According to details, the complainant Sanjay Kantilal Desai (50), resident of Nandanvan, on 2.3.2016 was taking his Victor motorcycle walking for repairing of flat tyre. Sanjay had put up a canvas bag containing Rs 7 lakh at the handle of the motorcycle and was repairing the flat tyre at Telephone Exchange Square on Gangabai Ghat Road. While Sanjay was focused on the repairing of the flat tyre, his canvas bag with Rs 7 lakh cash, was stolen by unidentified miscreant. Subsequently Sanjay had lodged a complaint in this regard with Lakadganj Police Station.

During investigation, cops obtained CCTV footage from the incident area. In the meanwhile, the police received secret information that the gang involved in the theft of Rs 7 lakh was staying at a place near Nehru Statue, Itwari and was planning another heist. Armed with the information, Lakadganj cops rushed to the spot and nabbed the woman named Kaveri Shrivas Naidu (38) who was having with her an 18-month daughter and the juvenile son Laxman Shrivas Naidu (12). However, two other wanted men succeeded in escaping the spot on a silver-coloured motorcycle (GJ-27/AD 1675) and are now subject of a massive manhunt. Police have obtained Custody Remand of the arrested accused mother-son duo and are hoping to solve other bag-lifting cases. The arrested accused are natives of Ambarnath in Gujarat.
