Nagppur: As reported in a local daily today, the Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) in Nagpur recently commemorated its Platinum Jubilee, marking 75 years of establishment. The college organized celebratory events and collected fees amounting to Rs 4,000 for undergraduate students and Rs 8,000 for postgraduate students. However, some students have raised objections and filed complaints regarding the fee collection process.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations were orchestrated by the Medical Administration Committee, led by Dr. Raj Gajbhaye, and included the participation of Dr. Sudhir Neral, Dr. Uday Narlewar, and Dr. Devendra Mahore. The committee invited medical students, former students, faculty, assistant professors, and resident doctors to take part in the festivities, with fees of Rs 12,000, Rs 8,000, and Rs 4,000, respectively. Upon payment, students received various clearance certificates from the student section. Nonetheless, certain students have voiced their concerns, questioning whether the medical education department issued the order for this fee collection.
