Junior State Selection Badminton Tournament at Karad

Talented shuttler of Orange City Ritika Thaker continued her dream run at the Junior State Selection Badminton Tournament at Karad by clinching triple title on July 9, 2016.

In the under-17 girls singles, Ritika defeated third seed seed Rashi Lambe also of Nagpur 21-18, 21-15, then in the doubles went on to beat Aditi Kute and Vishakha Pawar 21-13, 21-13 with her Mumbai partner Simran Singhi. In her last finals , Ritika pairing with Simran Singhi claimed the under-19 doubles title by beating Sanshree Dhamdhere and Tamishka Deshpande in three games with the score reading 16-21, 21-19 , 21-11. Ritika is a student of CDS and trains under the guidance of Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal. She has thanked her school and NDBA for their support and has thanked her coaches for their effort.

Another Nagpur star was Sourabh Kelharkar who won the under 19 doubles with his partner Deep Rambhiya. The duo defeated Ajinkya Pathakar and Akshan Shetty in the summit clash to claim the title. Sourabh trains under Ajay Dayal. Rashi Lambe finished runners up in the girls under-17 singles and fineshed third in the unde- 19 doubles event. She trains under Kiran Makode.
