Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Secretary Swadheen Kshatriya on Friday stressed on fulfillment of people’s expectations and inclusion of their suggestions while planning development of Smart Cities. “In all 10 Smart Cities are being set up in the State,” said the Chief Secretary while presiding over a meeting wherein a computer presentation on Smart City planning and implementation was done. The meeting was held in the office of Chief Secretary at Hyderabad House in Civil Lines.

The meeting was attended among others by Urban Development Department’s Principal Secretary Manisha Patankar-Mhaiskar, Finance Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Shrivastav, Principal Secretary Sitaram Kunte, Amravati Municipal Commissioner Chandrakant Gudewar, Solapur Municipal Commissioner Vijay Kalam Patil, Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Pune’s Krunal Kumar, Navi Mumbai’s Shrinivas, Aurangabad’s S Kumar, Kalyan-Dombivali’s Ravindran, Thane’s Sanjiv Jaiswal and others.

“It is essential and important to respect expectations of people while planning Smart City development. The general expectations are clean drinking water, cleanliness, and safety,” stressed the Chief Secretary. The top boss sought information from Municipal Commissioners about participation of people in the planning of Smart Cities.
The evaluation of planning regarding Smart Cities will be done by three methods vis-à-vis City-level Assessment, Area-based Development and Pan City Development.
