Nagpur: Faced with the deluge of complaints on scanty water supply in summer, the Mayor Nanda Jichkar has directed the officials to resolve citizens’ complaints within seven days. The Mayor asked the officials to initiate various measures and ensure enough water supply to the citizens in affected areas.
Jichkar was reviewing zone-wise situation of water supply ina meeting held at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall of Standing Committee in NMC Headquarters on Thursday.
Reviewing the measures being contemplated by NMC administration to mitigate problem of scanty water supply during summer, the Mayor also asked the officials to attend to the complaints of contaminated water being supplied to citizens in some of the areas. There are a number of complaints regarding constructions being done by OCW.
These complaints should also be looked into. The works related to 24X7 water supply scheme should be completed speedily so that citizens are not deprived of regular water supply. Similarly, the NMC should form Tullu Pump Seizer squads and those found using the pumps for drawing extra water should be booked, suggested the Ruling Party Leader Sandeep Joshi who also attended the meeting.
On Thursday, the meeting was held to review water situation in five zones including Gandhibagh, Satranjipura, Lakadganj, Ashinagar and Mangalwari Zone. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Chairman of Standing Committee Sandeep Jadhav, BSP Group Leader Mohd Jamal, Water Works Committee Chairman Rajesh Ghodpage, designated Deputy Chairman Mahendra Dhanvijay, Corporators of the zones, Executive Engineer Sanjay Gaekwad, OCW’s Sanjay Rai, Pradeep Bhoyar and others.
The meeting also discussed OCW’s water supply in ‘network’ and ‘non-network’ areas, total number of consumers, water rates in slums, residential and commercial areas, well, borewells, handpumps, water supplied by tankers, AMRUT Scheme announced by the Prime Minister and other related issues.
