Nagpur: Finally, the motorists commuting on the Amravati Road heaved a sigh of relief as the Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday opened the newly-constructed Wadi Flyover in Nagpur for vehicular traffic without waiting for a formal inauguration.
The PWD on Wednesday apprised the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court about opening of the flyover for traffic movement, and claimed that inauguration of the flyover would be done after receiving a nod from the ministers. The PWD officials, on August 27, had submitted before the High Court that the flyver would be opened for traffic on September 15.
The Wadi area experienced traffic chaos for the past several years during the construction of the flyover. The residents feel that it would give a much awaited relief for the motorists. The 2.4 km long Wadi Flyover was proposed along with the RTO flyover on the Amravati Road under Rs 478 crore Amravati Road Traffic Improvement Project (ARTIP).
