Reliance Aerostructure Limited may get land in Mihan on Aug 28

Nagpur: Reliance Aerostructure Limited, an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) company which has plans to set up an aerospace unit in Mihan, is expected to be formally handed over land for the project on Saturday.

Sources say a function with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and union minister for transport and shipping Nitin Gadkari is to be held on August 28. ADAG chief Anil Ambani is also expected to be coming down for the event in which the company will get allotment letter for 1,000 acres of land in Mihan-SEZ.

The Reliance Group wants to set up what it has christened as Dhirubhai Ambani Aerospace Park (DAAP), in the Mihan-SEZ. According to a document shared with TOI, the company plans to create a comprehensive eco-strocuture through backward integration through government’s make in India programme. This will include making of aerospace platforms and components.

The aerospace park will be the first integrated facility for structures engine design, manufacture fabrication and platform integration. It will comprise of a cluster of manufacturing units which will indigenously deliver major aircraft components, and avionics to the aerospace industry.

DAAP will also focus on making of helicopters for commercial and military applications. The helicopters division of Reliance Defence Limited has responded to ministry of defence’s request for information for helicopters to be used by Navy, Army and Indian Air Force (IAF).

Navy needs utility helicopters while army and IAF have sought information for buying surveillance helicopters. The unit in Nagpur is expected to provide direct employment to 2,000 persons with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore in coming few years.
