Ram Nath Kovind sworn-in as the 14th President of India

New Delhi: Ram Nath Kovind has been sworn-in as 14th President of India on Tuesday. Chief Justice of India (CJI) JS Khehar administered the oath of office to the new constitutional head of the country. With this, he has also become the supreme commander of the armed forces.

Before coming to Parliament for the ceremony, Ram Nath Kovind visited former President Pranab Mukherjee’s residence and greeted him. The President was accompanied by his wife. He presented a bouquet to the former President. President Kovind also visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Leaders of all the major political parties, judges were present in the ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former President Pranab Mukherjee also attended the function.

At his oath ceremony, nearly 70 members of his extended family were present. His grand-daughter Ananya told India Today that she was very happy with her grandfather becoming the President of the country and that she told her friends about it
