Punjab: Car blast near Congress candidate’s rally leaves three dead

Punjab: At least three persons were killed and 15 injured in a powerful car blast near a Congress candidate’s rally in Maur near Bathinda city on Tuesday evening, police said.

The incident comes days before the state begins polling in the assembly elections on February 4.

The blast took place at Maur Mandi, about 200 km from Chandigarh, close to where Congress candidate Harminder Jassi was addressing a gathering at the time. He is a close relative of the controversial dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet ram Rahim Singh

The injured have been rushed to hospitals in Maur Mandi and Bathinda.
