Pumba college of Pune wins AEGIS’14, Organized by E-leap of DAIMSR

E-leap, the entrepreneurship center of DAIMSR, hosted a National Level Business Plan Competition -AEGIS 14 recently. Well-known institutes of India were invited to participate and compete in the competition. Some of the prominent institutions like IIT Roorkee, IIM Raipur, Welingkar Mumbai, Narsee Munjee, NIT Durgapur and  Pumba Pune fulfilled the mentioned criteria and qualified for the competition. Teams from around 15 top colleges were short-listed in the first round. The main criteria were that the business plan should be for a proposed venture with initial capital investment of Rs.1 Lac only.

The team from Pumba college, Pune, won the competition with a high score and was rewarded with cash prize of Rs.25000. Team from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, was the first runner up and won cash prize of Rs.10000 and the team from IIT Roorkee , which secured the position of second runner up, won the cash prize of Rs.5000. A Panel of Judges, which included prominent personalities of the region, was invited to evaluate the business plans. The Judges at this event were Dr. T.S. Rawal, Mr.Sharad Gupta, CEO, 10Kya.com, Adv. Wilson Mathew and Mr. Ketan Kapale. The Dias was also shared by the Director of DAIMSR, Dr.Sudhir Fulzele, and the Co-ordinator, Dr.Vilas Chopde.

The competition consisted of two rounds- the first being presentation of the Business Plans and second being Elevator’s pitch. The Business plan presentations were time bound presentations by the teams wherein their complete business proposals were to be introduced. In the Elevator’s pitch, one minute time slot was allotted during which only one representative from each team was allowed to explain his vision of business and the teams were thoroughly questioned by the Panel of Judges. The audience also took keen interest in raising their queries to the teams. The participants appeared well prepared with their prompt replies.Judgments were made on the basis of the presentation and coverage of essential elements of business plan and also the clarity and viability of the ideas. Special scores were awarded for performance in the second round- The Elevator’s Pitch.

Amongst the audience, Directors, Professors and students from renowned management and engineering colleges of city were present. It was an opportunity for the local businessmen and investors to hear from some of the brightest students of the country. Venture capitalists were also present and made a note of the most innovative and best business ideas. The aim of the event was to provide a platform to the future.

The Judges provided their valuable analysis which was encouraging and enlightening for everyone present at the event. The Director of DAIMSR, Dr.Sudhir Fulzele, applauded the E-leap team for their work and congratulated for the accomplishment of this pilot event of the team. He also extended his regards to the participating colleges from various regions of India.
