Nagpur
: Womenfolk in city must be breathing easy, albeit, with a sense of apprehension, as the “Psycho Stabber” has left the month of February ‘blank’ so far. However, there was a report that a medical girl was allegedly struck by the so-called psycho attacker near TB Ward on Thursday morning. But the DCP Zone 4 Ravindrasingh Pardeshi, while talking to Nagpur Today, clarified that the ‘attack’ was not the handiwork of that psycho.

The DCP said that preliminary probe revealed that an unidentified man was being chased by some anti-social elements. The scared fleeing person stopped near TB Ward in a huff as the traffic signal at the spot was red. He was shouting ‘hat jao, hat jao’ and waving a ‘knife’ like arm in the air. It is possible the medical girl could have received a scratch injury due to that sharp-edged weapon. But the girl did not stop and went to medical college where she is studying. Later she discussed the incident with her relatives and on the insistence of relatives she went to Ajni Police Station to register a case in this regard. But since the spot falls under Imambada police jurisdiction, the girl lodged a complaint there around 11.30 am. Imambada cops registered a case under Section 337 and started further investigation, the DCP Pardeshi said.

The DCP expressed confidence that the ‘Psycho’ stabber would soon be cooling his heels behind bars as city police are on the trail of the ‘mysterious’ entity. There is no need to panic. Don’t heed rumours. More than the psycho stabber the rumours are creating terror in the minds of women, Pardeshi quipped.

It is pertinent to recall that the ‘psycho stabber’ has so far attacked six women in the month of January. The bike-borne psycho stabs the lone woman on streets and flees the spot in a hurry. The attacks have sparked panic among womenfolk who are preferring to stay in their homes safe rather than on roads terrorized. Taking the matter serious, city cops are turning no stone unturned to nab the psycho, soon. The Crime Branch has released a sketch of the suspect. CCTV cameras have captured glimpses of the attacker at one of the crime scenes.

City police have formed special teams to net the elusive so-called psycho stabber.
