New Delhi: Kanimozhi, Raja NOT guilty: 2G scam verdict: Former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi have been found NOT guilty in the case.

Vijay Aggarwal, lawyer of Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa, Vinod Goenka and others, said: The court said that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove any of its charge. Thus all accused are acquitted.

Remember the voting for the RK Nagar bypoll has begun this morning. The DMK will now be in a better position to contest the elections and secure its future in the state after the taint of the 2G scam has been washed away.

Raja was made a scapegoat:

Lawyer: All other accused and three companies were also acquitted in the case. Special CBI Judge O P Saini pronounced the judgement in the 2G scam which had rocked the UPA government. In its charge sheet filed in April 2011 against Raja and others, the CBI had alleged that there was a loss of Rs 30,984 crore to the exchequer in allocation of 122 licences for 2G spectrum which were scrapped by the Supreme Court on February 2, 2012.

A Raja’s lawyer said there was never a case and his client was made a scapegoat.

DMK MP Kanimozhi said, “At last justice has prevailed.”

Congress leader Tom Vadakkan said the verdict will reverberate across the country.
