Continuing the success story, Nagpur based Miniratna, Central Public Sector Enterprise, Western Coalfields Limited has inaugurated its prestigious Dinesh (4.0 Million Ton) and Amalgamated Yekona I & II (2.75 Millian Tone) projects (9th and 10th projects of WCL of 2015) at the hands of Central Ministers, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of State (I/C) for Coal, power and New & Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal, Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers Hansraj Ahir in gracious presense of Cabinet Minister, Govt. Of Maharashtra Chandrashekhar Bawankule & other dignitiries, in Makardhokra, Umrer Area of WCL. The villagers were also given land compensation during the prograame.

While addressing Piyush Goyal announced that to ensure food requirements and to provide urea at chep rates to the farmers it is proposed to prepare urea from coal. He also announced that soon project effected people of Bina Bhanegaon and Dinesh projects will be rehablitated with the help of State Government. He appreciated the wonderful efforts of Team Western Coalfileds Limited to open ten new projects in ten months and to become real partners in the progress of the Nation. He also appreciated the zeal of WCL to open twenty four new projects in twenty four months.

Goyal added that these two projects shall add the capacity of 6.75 million ton (on full run) in annual production of WCL out of which about 5.7 million tone coal will be supplied to Mahagenco and other power houses, which will contribute additional 1400 MW power generation to the Nation. Rest of the coal will be provided to other consumers. These two projects are to provide job opportunities to about 1773 eligible land oustees.

Opening of these projects will bring meaningful change in the lives of people living around the mining areas as various CSR activities like creation of /support to Infrastructure facilities for communication (Roads), Education, Drinking Water, Healthcare, Swachch Vidyalaya Abhiyaan, Environment, Sustainable Development, Solar Lights Social Empowerment, Sports & Cultural activities are under taken by WCL, primarily in the villages within the radius of 25 Km. of the project areas. Dinesh and Yekna projects are planned to operate on total hiring basis, thus creating avenues for indirect employment in the jobs related to mining, civil, other allied works apart from opportunities for local vendors in meeting daily needs of workmen, supporting agencies and their families. Economic activities in the surrounding areas will improve with enhanced cash flow in the market.

An initative on Jal Sahaog K2K (Kamptee mine to Kanhan township) was launched by the Ministers. An initiative to meet 24X7 drinking water requirement of local populace through gainful utilization of mine water discharge in Nagpur Area of WCL. Discharged mine water from Kamptee Opencast to be supplied after sedimentation and filtration with capex of Rs. 43 lakhs. Will provide 24×7 drinking water to about 7000 population of Kanhan-Pipri & Shivora village, under Kanhan Municipal Corporation.

Ministers also launched the sought after special initiative of WCL called eco-tourism, to grow awareness amongst citizens regarding coal mining operations, environment & development. Foundation stone for development of an Eco-Park at Saoner, in Nagpur area was laid on 22nd March 2015. Eco-Mine tours will be started from November 2015 from Zero mile, Nagpur – Adasa temple – Saoner Mine – Eco Park – Gondegaon Mine – Nagpur.

Later MoS (I/C) Piyush Goyal along with the Energy Minister of Maharashtra Chandrashekhar Bawankule launched the skill developmemt centre at Indore complex through remote from WCL H.Q during Gen Next programme. WCL is establishing four Skill Development Centres at Nagpur (to be launched on 26th Oct), Two (2 Nos.) of skill development centers have already been launched at Chhindwara on 31st Aug 2015) & Chandrapur, to impart skill development training to 6000 PAPs and Rural youth annually. 33 courses of durations extending from one month to four months have been identified. Training to youths in coal mines related occupations like fitter, electrician, motor winder would be provided. During the programme Goyal also unveiled Vision document by CIL Gen Nxt and Project Samarth to empower women & Energy conservation initiative by Samwad group of WCL.
