Post Damania episode, DBA calls off interactive programme with poll candidate’s mid-way

    Nagpur News.

Anguished over the ruthless behavior of some of the lawyers with AAP candidate from Nagpur Lok Sabha seat Anjali Damania, District Bar Association President Sudeep Jaiswal pulled off its interactive programme with prospective Lok Sabha candidates mid way, dubbing it as the most shameful act in the history of DBA. The programmed aimed at discussing the issues concerning the lawyer community with the prospective Lok Sabha candidates here. On March 29, when the session was on with Damania as the guest, she was subjected to misbehavior after she commented on corruption cases against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Though she did not discuss politics initially however she was prompted to do so after being asked questions related to Modi by some of lawyers. Irked over her reply few lawyers, understood to be Modi supporters, moved up from their chairs and created ruckus in the hall.

Congress Candidate for Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency Vilas Muttemwar was the first to talk in the forum and after him Aam Aadmi Party candidate Damania was invited to speak in the forum. During the session couple of members entered into a heated exchange with Damania and observing the situation getting worse, the organizers discontinued the session.

BSP candidate Dr. Mohan Gaikwad and BJP’s Nitin Gadkari were to be invited on March 2 and March 3, respectively. However, because of the scene created by few lawyers, further sessions have been cancelled by the District Bar Association, told president of DBA Adv. Sudeep Jaiswal to Nagpur Today.

Speaking to Nagpur Today, President of District Bar Association Sudeep Jaiswal said that whatever happened was really shocking. He added that this was the shameful episode in the history of Nagpur District Bar Association and a black spot on the lawyer’s profession.

According to Jaiswal the whole act was done purposefully. He added that there was no sense in the argument done by the lawyers. “Few immature lawyers extended the discussion with no reason. Such shameful behavior was not expected from these so called educated people,” Jaiswal told Nagpur Today.
